“နံ႔သာနီ” (Indian Red Sandalwood/ Pterocarpus Santalinus)
နံံ႔သာနီသည္ ပိေတာက္မ်ိဳးႏြယ္စုတြင္ ပါ၀င္၍ အပြင့္၊အသီး ခပ္ဆင္ဆင္ရွိသည္။ ျမန္မာႏို္င္ငံတြင္ အစိုက္မ်ားသည့္ ေရြးႀကီးနံ႔သာနီ (Adenanthera Pavonina) မွာ ကုကၠိဳရြက္ႏွင့္ဆင္၍ အသီးမွာ ေရြးေစ့ကဲ့သို႔ အနီရဲရဲ ျဖစ္သည္။

တန္ဖိုးႀကီး သက္တမ္းရင့္ နံ႔သာနီမ်ိဳး (Pterocarpus Santalinus) မ်ိဳးရင္းကို အိႏိၵယေတာင္ပိုင္း၊ ပါကစၥတန္ႏွင့္ နီေပါႏိုင္ငံတုိ႔တြင္ေတြ႕ရသည္။ အိႏၵိယတြင္ နံ႔သာနီပင္ကို တင္းက်ပ္သည့္ ဥပေဒမ်ားျဖင့္ ကာကြယ္ထားသည္။ နံ႔သာနီစစ္စစ္သည္ ျမန္မာ့တုိင္းရင္းေဆးေဖာ္စပ္ရာတြင္ မပါအျဖစ္ ေဆးဘက္၀င္အာနိသင္ရွိသည့္အျပင္ အေမႊးနံ႔သာအျဖစ္သာမက အသားအရည္အတြက္ ထူးထူးျခားျခားေကာင္းမြန္သည္။

ျမန္မာအေခၚ နံ႔သာျဖဴ၊ နံ႔သာနီဟု ေခၚၾကေသာ္လည္း အပင္အုပ္စုမတူညီၾကသည့္ မ်ိဳးကြဲအပင္မ်ိဳးမ်ားျဖစ္ၾကသည္။ ပိေတာက္မ်ိဳးႏြယ္၀င္အပင္ျဖစ္၍ မာေၾကာမႈျမင့္မားေသာေၾကာင့္ ရုပ္ထု ထုလုပ္ျခင္းနည္းပါးေသာ္လည္း အတံုးလိုက္ေဆာင္ထားျခင္း၊ ပုတီးအျဖစ္ျပဳလုပ္အသံုးျပဳျခင္းမ်ား ရွိၾကသည္။

နံ႔သာနီကို လာဘ္လာဘေကာင္းေစသည့္အေဆာင္၊ မေကာင္းေသာရန္အေႏွာင့္အယွက္မ်ားမွ အကာအကြယ္ေပးသည့္အေဆာင္အျဖစ္ ယံုၾကည္၍ ေဆာင္ထားေလ့ရွိၾကသည္။

တရုတ္ႏုိ္င္ငံ ေဘဂ်င္းၿမိဳ႕လည္ရွိ နန္းၿမိဳ႕ရိုးအတြင္းမွ Supreme Harmony အမည္ရ နန္းေဆာင္တစ္ခုထဲတြင္ ‘ခ်င္’မင္းဆက္အသံုးျပဳခဲ့သည့္ နံ႔သာနီသားျဖင့္ျပဳလုပ္ထားေသာ ပလႅင္တစ္ခုကို ယေန႔တုိင္ထိန္းသိမ္းျပသထားသည္။

Indian Red Sandalwood/ Pterocarpus Santalinus is the genus of Pterocarpus and has the similar shapes in flowers and seeds. The species mostly grow and found in Myanmar are Adenanthera Pavonina which is similar with rain tree and has bright red seeds.

The high valued and rare species, Pterocarpus Santalinus (Indian Red Sandalwood) is only found at the southern India, Pakistan and Nepal. In India, harvesting red sandalwood is strictly protected by country’s law. In Myanmar, Pterocarpus Santalinus is highly valued as one of the most important ingredients in the Myanmar traditional medical compounds, as the natural fragrance wood and as the special wood for skin health and beauty.

Though it is so called white and red sandalwoods in Myanmar, they are the wood species from the different family. Since red sandalwood is in the genus of Pterocarpus, it is very hard to be sculpted and people only use only as pure wood, powder and making beads.

And the red sandal wood is high demanded and famous for its magical power of bringing good luck, protecting from the dangers and the negative energies.

The Hall of Supreme Harmony in the ‘Forbidden City’ in the center of Beijing, features an exquisite throne made of red sandalwood and formerly used by the emperors of the Qing dynasty.
